David J. Ives
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
David J. Ives is the founder and CEO of TVEyes. For more than 30 years, he has focused on the development and monetization of custom databases and special-purpose software. He and a team of highly skilled developers designed and built the core technologies underpinning TVEyes, which when launched in 1999, was the first broadcast search engine and monitoring system. Before founding TVEyes, he owned Victory Systems Associates Inc., which provided software design, engineering and custom database development for industries including barter, textiles, hotel property management and broadcast media monitoring (building the foundation that would later become the TVEyes service). Earlier, David worked at Alexander and Alexander, Inc. and the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative in software development roles. David has four patents granted: three relating to the extraction of social media tags and handles from broadcast television and video; and a fourth relating to a system that presents contextually relevant advertisements based on words spoken in a video or audio segment being played via the Internet. He holds a B.A. in Information Science from Fordham University.
Dan Miles
Chief Operating Officer
Dan’s mission is to help TVEyes grow by driving product management, strategic partnerships and global expansion. His background includes business model innovation and revenue growth at Cablevision Systems Corp., consulting to media and communications companies on subscription business models and investment banking at UBS and Chemical Bank. Dan holds a M.S. in Management from MIT Sloan School of Management and a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
Daren Benzi
Chief Commercial Officer
Daren leads commercial strategy and business development for TVEyes, in addition to managing TVEyes’ global partnership businesses and data alliances. Daren’s background includes executive business development, B2B sales, and strategic partnerships experience with numerous Fortune 500 companies including News Corporation, The Walt Disney Company, and DIRECTV. He also brings sales and strategy experience with leading software companies and technology start-ups. Prior to joining TVEyes, Daren led global content and data partnerships at Meltwater. He began his career as an attorney at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C.
David Seltzer
Chief Technology Officer
David Seltzer joined TVEyes in 2003. David develops user-facing products to serve TVEyes’ customers and partners. He is responsible for creating TVEyes’ unique spoken word search capabilities. Additionally, he develops infrastructure projects to improve communications between TVEyes’ remote monitoring facilities. Before coming to TVEyes, he worked as a software consultant for Nestle Waters of North America, designing in-house network management software. Prior to that, David wrote content replication software for streaming startup Microcast Inc. He has a B.S. in Information Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.
James Hayter
Chief Data Scientist
James Hayter has been with TVEyes since its inception, helping to conceive the core technology and create the software. James explores emerging technologies, conducts testing and analysis, and modifies the existing TVEyes system to expand its capabilities and improve overall performance. In addition, he is an expert in voice recognition technologies and creates applications implementing speech-to-text and phonetics to solve a range of industry needs. Before joining TVEyes, James joined Victory Systems Inc. in February 1993 as a software developer. At Victory Systems, he focused primarily on designing and deploying the world’s first automated hotel check-in and check-out system — both hardware and software. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Clemson University.
